Jindabyne opened in the UK on 25 May 2007. In the face of a summer blockbuster onslaught, Jindabyne came in at number seven on the box office charts, as well as achieving the second highest screen average over its opening weekend.

Jindabyne received an enthusiastic reception when it opened to a capacity house at The Dublin International Film Festival. Actor Gabriel Byrne was on hand for the premiere and was presented with the Festival’s inaugural Volta Award to honour a lifetime’s achievement in film.
